Sam Fowler, Jr. Obituary

Paschal Memorial Funeral Home of 181 North Church Street, Jeffersonville, GA  announces funeral services for Mr. Sam Fowler, Jr., age 91, of Dry Branch, GA, who was called into eternal rest on Friday, August 1, 2025. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at Stone Creek Baptist Church, 1531 Riggins Mill Road, Dry Branch, GA at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Sam Fowler, Jr. transitioned to his heavenly home on August 1, 2025. He was born on September 10, 1933, in Sandersville, GA to the parentage of the late Sam Fowler, Sr. and Corine Singleton Fowler. Sam, Jr. was one of 15 children.

Sam, Jr. attended Stone Creek School. Having worked in the fields to help support his siblings, Sam only attended school through the third grade, but he was a man of great wisdom and knowledge. He served faithfully in the church, having served as a Deacon at Dry Branch Church of God in Christ. Later in life, he attended Stone Creek Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and member of the Male Choir, joyfully singing praises to the Lord. Sam, Jr. was employed by Georgia Kaolin until his retirement on December 31, 1995, having 40 years of dedicated service.

Sam, Jr. was united in Holy Matrimony to Lula Mae Height on July 24, 1954. The love birds reached the incredible milestone of 71 years of marriage this year. To this union, nine children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Fowler; siblings, Samuel Fowler, Annie Cora Fowler, Jeanie Mitchell (Sarah) Fowler, Tommy Lee (Doris) Fowler, Clifford Fowler, Larry Fowler, Lucille Stevenson, Robert (Corky) Fowler, Ella Pecora (Johnny C.) Hill, Isadore Fowler, and Willie Jean “Bose” (Lottie) Fowler; his loving grandson, LaRoche Fowler; and son-in-law, Richard Ford.

Sam, Jr.’s legacy of love will forever be etched in the hearts of his remaining children, Evelyn Fowler (Lucious) Dennard, Tony (Margaret) Fowler, Angela (John) Parker, Loretta Ford, Elton Fowler, James Fowler, Cora Fowler, and SherVonne (Reginald) Grose; brother, Kemmie (Ann) Fowler; sisters, Evelyn Basley and Geraldine Parker; and sisters-in-law, Mary Shinholster, Barbara Jean Fowler, Willie Mae Fowler, and Lola Strange; as well as an army of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

He will be remembered for his love of God and his family, that jubilant laugh, and the delicious collard greens he used to cook up every Sunday.

Public viewing will be held Thursday in the A.B. Thorpe Memorial Chapel of Paschal Memorial Funeral Home from 1pm - 6pm.
